The SC Children’s Book and SC Picture Book of the year winners were announced Friday, March 9 in Columbia, South Carolina at the SC Association of School Librarian’s Annual Conference. Mrs. Nelson challenged the students to name the winners on Monday, March 12, 2007. The winners were posted on the Northside Library’s blog “@ the Northside Library” as soon as the winners were announced. This meant students needed to check the blog!! Apparently no students have checked yet, as NOT a single student has let Mrs. Nelson know the winners!!
The contest, which students were reminded of before and after the winners were announced, was to name the winner first for Mrs. Nelson. The first student from grades Kindergarten through 2nd grade to name the Picture Book Winner, and the first student from 3rd through 5th grade, each can win a $5.00 gift certificate to our April Scholastic Bookfair. But we still do not have a winner, even after describing the contest on our daily news show ENN. So, we turn it over to our parents! You can help! Share this article with your child, and ask him or her to come and tell Mrs. Nelson the name of the book that won for their grade level, and they will get this great PRIZE!! We are waiting for two lucky winners, and you can help your child win!!
